Leadership and Empowerment Program continues during 125th Anniversary year
After a successful launch of “Leadership Circles” last fall, the YW is excited to bring the next round to the women of Lincoln. The goal is to bring women from all walks of life together in to a unique experience resulting in each woman moving forward in life with more passion and confidence. The more diversity of age, race and life experience the richer the discussions and learning.
“We are redefining and reframing mentoring to mean real conversations about the things that matter – in life and work. The outcome is relationships based on trust and goodwill. This is more than swapping business cards, this is about helping someone become a better version of themselves,” said Amanda McGill, graduate of “Leadership Circles” and Director of Program Advocacy & Giving for the YW.
The dates for the winter/spring circles are: Monday Circle- February 27, March 5, 19, 26 and Tuesday Circle- February 28, March 6, 20, 27 with locations to be announced. The founding Lincoln Guardians will continue to facilitate classes this and include: Liz Ring Carlson, Jeanie Cole, Samantha Eckhardt, Stacy Gutschenritter, Teresa McCarthy, Denise Scholl-Serrett and Paige Zutavern. Scholarships are available for YWCA clients and others on a need basis. Light meal and drinks will be provided.
Each series consists of four sessions that meet for 2.5 hours per session. Participants are asked to commit to all four sessions. The program is designed around a theme that will facilitate exploration of leadership capacities, experiences and applications. Meg Wheatley’s ‘Four Step Model for Change’ provides guiding principles for group discussions. Participants are invited to engage in open, authentic, and confidential peer-to-peer dialogue.
